Life Is How You Make It. 👆🏽
Episode 9
After the church service, the pastor and some members decided to pay the family a visit. It was there that the whole truth of the matter was revealed. Before we got to the house, Mr Mensah was brought to the house. The doctor said due to limited space at the hospital facility, they would prefer treating him in the house. But he was given some mordicate injections as well as as psychotic medications to be taken. That at least gave him some relief. I could recollect that he was given Tab Respiradol, Tab olanzapine and Tab Diazepam. All these are drugs mostly used at the mental health facilities. But must be taken based on instructions from the doctor. So Mr Mensah was in the house before we got there. His other three children were also with him. In fact I cried when I saw them. Through one man sin entered into the world and through one man many are saved. Mr Mensah has brought shame to himself as well as his family. The pastor led us through a prayer session with the family. Mr Mensah was a bit conscious by the help of the drugs so he could actually see exactly what was going on. After the prayer, he requested for an opportunity to talk so the floor was given to him. " Before I say anything, I want sister Mawufemor and her family especially her mother to forgive me. " He said. By hearing that, my mother also joined me in tears. Mr Mensah continued; " I have sinned against this family. I was behind all the difficulties they went through. Her mother's blindness I was responsible, the death of her daughter, I was responsible ," everybody was surprised at hearing all that came out from his mouth. I never knew church members can also insult. I could hear from some people saying it serves him right to be in that situation. I just couldn't believe my ears. Mr Mensah went on " I used the Tukpe on Mawufemor during her engagement"ever
yone went like eeeeiii!!!! I was just observing proceedings. " I removed her womb that is why till today she could not bare children " he added. As soon as my husband heard that he ran towards him and held his neck. He said he should repeat what he said. Before we noticed, my husband had already landed two heavy slaps on his face. That would definitely aggravate his condition because those slaps were not just the usual ones. Fortunately for him, some people went to hold my husband from any further brutality. His own children were also surprised at what he was saying. The pastor then asked him why he did all that to the poor family. He said he was just trying to make us suffer because of what my mother and I did to him some six years back where my mother poured hot water on him and also pushed him out in addition. He added and said he made my father to leave us because maybe with his absence, my mother could give him the chance. What a shock! Almost the whole community came around to hear what he was saying. He started crying. Then the pastor again asked him why the trouble in his own family. He said he was challenged at the all-night service I attended at Kumasi. He said the pastor broke the cage he was keeping my womb and also set fire among his gods that was why the fire destroyed his properties. He also said, Datsomor needed to die because he sacrificed him to the gods for not been able to protect them. He also added that he used his wife to acquire all the worth he had. After saying all that the pastor asked him if he wanted to repent and be born again. He agreed but said my family must first forgive him. My mother could not control her tears. I stood up and said I have forgiven him. Everybody was surprised to have heard that. My husband said he will only forgive him only on the condition that I could give birth. He said he was leaving back to Kumasi that evening so he begged to leave. The pastor said he should forgive Mr Mensah before going. It took him some time but eventually he did. My mother also did the same. All we heard after my mother forgave him was an explosion from the house. The second house also joined the flaming category so everybody took to their heels including the pastor. Unfortunately, because Mr Mensah was in chains, the fire burnt part of his face before he was finally rescued. He was not able to accept Christ that day because of the fire. It was a sad moment in the history of Nipahiamoa.
What happened to him and his family eventually? And what happened to my marriage? Follow me to the next episode.
