Episode 1

It is always good to have people around you especially parents to guide and direct your steps when you start the journey of life. Parental attachment is very key in the development of an individual. Staying with step parents at times can be very difficult. Am saying this because of the experience I went through staying with my step mother. I want to share my life's story with you and those who may be going through something closer to mine. But before I introduce myself to you, I want you to understand that life is all about going out to pursue your dreams. Don’t let failure pin you down and push you against a wall. Fightback and look at every setback as a challenge. Being successful is all about having the courage, determination and perseverance to keep taking knocks while moving forward. Giving up is the easiest way to be ridiculed, mocked and disrespected. Showing grit, determination and courage is the easiest way to be respected and rewarded. What’s your choice? Never say that you gave up
because you had to. Say that you gave up because you wanted to. Spare yourself some dignity. But I will advice you don't give up. My name is Dzigbordi, 27 years of age and self employed. I started life with my lovely parents who cared and treasured me so much. Being the first child after their marriage meant a lot to them. I inherited the shape, colour and beauty of my mother. My mom was a black beauty who worked as a teacher before meeting her untimely death. Death is actually wicked. Why would it lay its cold hands on my mother at the time I needed her most. I was 12 years when she died. By then I was in J.S.S 1. I attended Torve L.A. Basic School in the Akatsi South constituency in the Volta region of Ghana. My daddy was actually unemployed at the time my mom was alive but they lived as a very happy couple. There had not been a single day that my mother raised her shoulders higher than that of my father because she was providing for the family. According to my father, my mother is a woman that he won't ever forget in his life. I quite remember he telling my mother that he wouldn't marry any other woman should anything happen between them. But what happened, just two years after the death of my mother, he engaged another woman. Maame Irene happens to be my step mother. She owned a boutique for herself before meeting my father. According to my father, at the time my mother was alive, they do buy from Maame Irene's boutique. By the time this woman will finally move to my father's house, I was ready for secondary school. I actually had admission to Sogakope Senior Secondary School to read General Arts. With the presence of Maame Irene in the house, I knew she will equally help my father in paying my admission fees and other expenses. According to her, my father should make me learn a trade because it will be expensive to raise money to enable me complete the program. My father didn't take her bad suggestions but asked her to rather assist him to pay for my admission and he will pay for the rest of the expenses. Maame Irene added that there was no need educating a girl child like me because sooner or later, I will get married and my husband will take care of me. These were the discouraging words my step mother was infusing into my father just to make him not to let me go to school. Maame Irene ended up giving the money to my dad because she thought it wise that it was too early to show the dirty part of her life in her new marriage. My step mother had a child with her ex husband who divorced her for reasons best known to them. Unfortunately, their child was physically challenged and died eventually. Maame Irene never liked me because she felt my father will make her use her money to sponsor my education. Fortunately for me, my father regained employment at a cement factory in the Volta region and that broke the dead luck which nearly jeopardized my future. Life on SOGASKO campus was something else. In my first year I lived a chaste life because I was determined to complete the school with good grades not for anything but to disgrace my step mother. After the first year, my results were very promising. Grade 'C' was my least grade and when you should calculate the results with the WASSCE format, I was always in between aggregate 7 to 10. My daddy was very proud of me. My colleagues always respected me for my intelligence. Almost every guy wanted to have me in his bosom. Hmm, it wasn't too long when complacency started setting in. I now developed a different lifestyle. To be honest, I had no idea where that life came from. Lynnell happened to be my friend when I was in school. She was coming from a very rich home. She had everything she needed to be happy on campus. She was my friend because I admired her and wanted to be like her. Guys were always following us around 'as if we were the source of their breath'🤓. Lynnell always provided the money and I also kept topping the G. Arts class. In the first term of our third year, our Economics master who was a married man proposed to me in a very professional way. He started by being more concerned about my academic progress, and then followed up with regular check ups on me and finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Initially, I didn't agree to it but after explaining things to my friend Lynnell, she encouraged me to accept it. Her reason was simple. Once I become his girlfriend, there will be no way he will fail her in Economics because that was her problem area😏 . Anyway I accepted Sir Harrison through Lynnell influence. In the evening, he will invite me to his bungalow where we do have fun. His wife and children lived in another town so his bungalow eventually became my second dormitory. A week wouldn't pass without sex. Aside Mr Harrison, other boys on campus won't let me rest. I started moving from one night club to the other with Lynnell and of course, all was from her account. She has three sugar daddies aside our colleague guys and she cared less. We parted ways with what is called respect for elders and whoever. Be it the principal or house mistress, that was our back case. I in particular will only respect you when you are ready to provide me with money. I hardly attend classes in my new way of life and woe unto you to complain(teacher's chick). I will make you to understand that I was a woman of my own. But one thing was certain, I always do fear and respected my dad. I never wanted him to know the kind of life I was living on campus. When going home for midterm or vacation, I remove the campus life garment and put on the 'good girl' garment. I was around 18 years by then. My step mother as usual didn't like me so I also didn't allow myself to be an easy walk over. My daddy started noticing a decline in my performance. He asked about it but I told him the subjects
were becoming difficult. The whole world was turning to be under my control. I spent most of my time looking into the mirror to make sure my assets were in good shape. With Lynnell on my side, we were rocking the world.

What did my life turned into? What became of
me? Follow me as I walk you through.

This is just the beginning !
