Never Give Up Episode 4

Never Give Up 🏃🏽

Episode 4

My father requested that the baby's DNA be tested and that was done . I kept the result. In a week time, Mr Harrison came around to test his in comparison to the baby. As a matter of fact, the prayerful nature that I had at S.U those days got activated at that moment. I prayed fervently for God to make my baby's DNA and that of Mr Harrison to match. This is one thing about us. We will wait until we find ourselves in a bigger trouble before we call on God but we need to know that, our ways are not the ways of God neither are our thoughts His thoughts. My dad took over the case so I gave the baby's test result to him. He went to the hospital with Mr Harrison so that he Go through the DNA test. The test was done and the result was released. The doctor explained the result to the two of them. He made them to understand that three major forms of DNA are double stranded and connected by interactions between complementary base pairs. These are termed A-form, B-form and Z-form DNA. He added that there are two major types of DNA; Genomic DNA and Mitochondrial DNA. This genomic DNA he said is spread across 46 chromosomes leading to an expression of genetic traits. The genomic DNA according to the doctor, controls expression of the various traits in an organism. The Mitochondrial DNA is a double stranded circular molecule which is always maternally inherited. Mutations can lead to maternally inherited diseases. In fact, my father was getting bored with the lecture just like you have gotten bored so he asked the doctor to stop and tell them what the outcome of that result was since that was why they were there and not for the lecture. I think this time around my prayer was not answered. The test result showed that the baby does not belong to Mr Harrison. My father was surprised and totally dismayed. He was not satisfied with the result so he asked them to check from another hospital. They went to do the test in another hospital and just like the change of the Ghanaian currency in 2007, the value was the same. Oh God why? By then too, Amenyo had completed and I don't know of his whereabouts. Per the court ruling, Mr Harrison was free from any obligation henceforth. My father only came to tell me about what happened and left my house without saying anything to comfort me. He was totally disappointed in me and fell ashamed of himself for trusting in me. "What a mess have put myself into?" I asked myself. Had it not been that Mr Harrison sent that money to pay for my delivery, I wouldn't have gotten any money to take care of myself in the first few weeks after my delivery. I have eventually turned into a single parent who has no profession nor occupation. After three months, I went to my father's house to plead with him to help me outdoor and name my baby. I don't know if I should say fortunately or unfortunately, my dad was not at home when I got there. It was only my step mother who was at home and was seriously in labour. Her phone was off due to power outage so there was no way she could call my father nor any other person for help. I got into the compound and heard her screaming. I rushed into the room only to see her struggling. Hmm, this is one of the reasons why I said earlier that it is good to have people around you. I don't know what would have happened to Maame Irene if I didn't get there early. For the sake of my father and God, I also called some people around to help me send her to the hospital. I didn't come with my baby so I returned with that taxi that took her to the hospital. On my way back, I called my daddy on phone to inform him about the current development. He didn't even wait for me to finish talking before he ended the call and rushed to the hospital. That tells me that he loved his wife more than me. Anyway that was not my worry. Unfortunately for them, they needed to take Irene through a cesarean section because there was some form of complications. I only prayed that the child does not become disabled like her first child because, whatever be the case, the baby will call me sister. To God be the glory, the baby was fine just that the mother was very weak after the CS. I went to visit them at the hospital but I didn't keep long because my baby was also at home. In a week time, she was discharged so I went to visit them at home. That was when I realized the baby was a girl. Oh how my father was desperate to have a boy. I told My father my reason for coming to the house on the day his wife was in labour and how I helped her. Well, he thanked me for my support but said all his money went into his wife's condition so at the moment he was not having any money to help me. He asked his wife to help me and surprising enough, she said she also used all her money to send for goods to stock her boutique so at the moment there was no money. 😳 . Like seriously! I said to myself that I shouldn't have saved this woman. I asked my Dad what to do to outdoor my child and name him. He asked of the name I intend to give to the baby. I told him I was now thinking about it but I wanted to get the resources for the naming ceremony. He said he will organize for his church members and elders to come around to do the naming for me. I thanked him and left the house. I will always pray for my land lady. She had been bathing my baby from day one to the day of the naming ceremony. No family member came to say hello. Not even my step mother. Hmm, I planned of naming the baby Alexander but the surname became my confusion. I was contemplating if I should name him after Amenyo or I should name him after my father. I tried Amenyo's number several times but couldn't reach him. Wonders will never end oo. I went on Facebook and guess what? Amenyo got engaged. What?!!! How come? I went to his Facebook profile only to see him load some pictures with a lady and captioned It "my love, my life ". Tears rolled down my cheeks like something I can't mention. This world is full of mysterious occurrences that can't be explained. I sent him a message on Facebook telling him that I have given birth and was about to name the child after him. To my surprise, he blocked me from his account. That was when I realized that we need not trust in any human being. They will fail you at the long run. I eventually decided to name the child after my father but hey, that will look as if he is my junior brother. The day for the naming ceremony came and it was only some few people from the church that came with the rest been people from my neighborhood. Discrimination they say, is everywhere, even in the church. My dad was the chair person and we name the child Alexander Kofi Agbenyo. Those who came around contributed some money for me. The church also gave me some items to use so I decided to start attending my daddy's church. After some few weeks where it was clear that I must now face life as it is, I went to the drinking spot around to get a job. The spot actually belongs to Auntie Felicia; my land lady so it was easy for me to get the job. I started work as a bar attendant. Life became quite stable when I got the job. Hmm, as usual, the proposals started coming from the men that visit the spot. Ladies at the bar mostly suffer all forms of humiliation and I bet you didn't know that. All manner of people will propose to you just because you are at the bar and they think that's all it is for you. Ugly, poor, drunkards, will complement your beauty at the bar and of course, handsome, rich, fine gentle paddies too will come. Alex was also growing steadily so I always leave him with my land lady before going to the spot. One faithful Sunday evening, a very rich man came to the spot and proposed to me. I said to myself that I won't allow that opportunity to fly away. Usual for we ladies, we won't accept your proposal on the first attempt but with this one, I accepted on the first attempt. I thought my days of joy has finally arrived. From frying pan to fire. Life became hell for me.

Will i be fooled again? How was life with this richman? Who is He at all? Let's go to the next episode.
