Episode 9

My father was very happy for us. Benson also took the marriage list from my father before we left. On our way coming, Benson said that list was not expensive so he will double everything. As it is said upon everything, there are still good people on earth and Benson and his family were not an exception. I should say I met my saviour. But will this good time last? I pray it does. Life was very nice with Benson. I was made the head of the attendants at the mall. My stock staking duty was same despite my promotion. Every attendant reports to me at the close of the day. My salary has also gone up so I earn relatively higher than my original salary. I could boast of money in my account so I decided to establish my own super market which I will make Enyonam to be in charge so that she can equally use proceeds from that place to send Alex to school and also account to me. I informed Benson about my plans but was careful not to mention Alex. He initially wanted to discourage me but I was able to convince him. Plans for my marriage ceremony was also underway. Benson's mother was always calling to check on me when she left to Accra. The whole house was just for myself and Benson. We did everything that pleases us. Work also went on as expected.My super market too started and everything was just moving smoothly. Everything was ready for our wedding. As the only son of his parents, they actually supported him in doing everything. The invitation card that was printed should even tell you that it was an expensive wedding. Enyonam was very good to me. She was able to take Alex out of the town before the wedding day came. Anyway, that was my father's plan. My step mother was not even aware of the whereabouts of Enyonam and my son. She tried to make noise but my father silenced her. Benson's parents came down to Akatsi with their invited guests. I couldn't even count the number of cars that was parked at my father's house just for the wedding. My father was very happy for me. My step mother played the role of my mother during the engagement segment of the program. It was more than a royal marriage. The naysayers were also around and wondering how a school drop out as well as a born one like me be honoured with such a marriage ceremony. No one should tell you that money is not good but just get it on a good account. Fortunately for me Benson's family was just rich and everything of theirs was genuine. They took education serious. Most of his uncle's and aunties were all educated and at big places. There was no pull him down syndrome in the family unlike some families that will never like to see a member progress to the top. We should rather encourage ourselves in our various families to see ourselves at the top. With that, the family will be a nice place to be. Benson's family was just good. Benson wanted us to have our honeymoon outside the country but I didn't agree to his offer. After all he has seen everything already so what honeymoon again. I suggested Golden Tulip Hotel for him and he agreed. When we got to the hotel, I told Benson that I would blow his mind that day and truly am sure he will never forget that honeymoon. After we checked into our room, I told Benson I was feeling hot so I want to take my bath. I used that opportunity to call Enyonam to ask of my son because I didn't see or spoke to any of them so I used that time to call and according to Enyonam, everything was fine. Besides I can't be enjoying while my son was no where to be found. I love him so much and wouldn't want anything bad to happen to him. Benson wanted to go with me to take the bath but I used my strength as a woman to stop him. He heard me talking over the phone in the bathroom and asked if all was well. I gave him a positive respond. After my bath he also went for his. I was only in my towel. As soon as he entered the room after his bath, I quickly dropped my towel to the floor. I made a sign asking him to draw near. You know how we do it. The power of a beautiful woman's naked body can make and unmake any man. It can make very strong man to become "Mugus" immediately. You can argue that it's not true but hey, wait until you find yourself in such a situation. Trust me, you won't call the strongest man ever; Sampson, a fool or a weakling. You must always remember that God created man but He took His time to make the woman. So the woman was made to please the man. Benson was smiling and said, "you should be a bad and naughty girl." I showed him my curvy smooth skin and body which was looking more attractive than what he was used to. He pushed me into the bed and dropped his towel and oh he was also not in his boxers. He gripped my firm round breast and sucked the nipples so hard. It was as if he was a virgin all these while and was so excited to break his virginity. Talking about virginity, it's believed that that's the greatest and most precious gift a woman can give to her husband on their wedding night. Guess what, I gave mine out for exam questions and answers, money, etc back in my SHS days. Don't be surprised when I tell you that some people even give theirs out as transport fares; "hey driver, I can't pay you money because I don't have some. All I have is what my mother gave me that you don't have. And you are lucky because nobody has tested it yet. Don't keep me waiting inside". Hmmm, I will tell you the rest later. I wish I could tell you about how Benson kissed me and rolled his tongue at some offensive places. It was fun though. I personally can't forget that honeymoon because it was as if Benson has borrowed somebody's strength and added to his. I felt a sharp pain as he penetrated me and that pain took my memories back to the very day Mr Harrison broke my virginity. We stayed at the hotel and did all that we wanted to do for one week before we returned to his father's house. I asked him if that was where we were going to stay forever. He said his own house was still under construction so for the time being, yes. I was ok with that. Life was good after marriage. After one full year of our marriage, there was no sign of pregnancy. But why? I never did anything wrong with my womb so why should it be so. This thing started bringing problem between us so we decided to go to the hospital for check up. The doctor said we were all fatal so we should be expecting pregnancy. Benson was someone who has patience in dealing with issues so he was rather encouraging me this time around. His patience in dealing with issues. Everything went on as expected just that pregnancy was not coming. I just prayed that God hears my prayer. My super market also started operating. I registered everything in my name and as usual, Enyonam was taking care of the place. I told Benson that Enyonam was a family sister and Alex was her son. One evening, we closed from work and I was in the kitchen preparing super. I left my phone in my hand bag which was inside the room. Benson was doing his normal accounting in the room when the phone started ringing. It rang for about three times times before my husband got to notice that the sound was coming from my hand bag. He removed the phone and saw that it was Enyonam who was calling. He was bringing the phone to me at the kitchen to call her back. On his way to the kitchen, another call came again and this time around guess who. My step mother. It was usual for us to pick each others call so he decided to pick and say hello to his in-law before giving the phone to me. He picked up and my step mother thought I was the one who picked so with her rude behavior, she didn't wait for even greetings before talking. She rudely said, "look your son is seriously sick and Enyonam tried calling you but you refused to pick. He went to school and according to the teachers, he just fell down and became unconscious. " from a small distance, I realized my husband was standing holding my phone so I said "honey is there any call for me? " He only looked at my direction and never said anything. I could see confusion written all over his face. I moved closer to him and he handed over the phone to me. I said Hello and it was My step mother's voice. I pressed the power button on the phone to see the caller and it was her . I said " maame Irene what did you tell my husband that made him so disturbed like that ?" She asked me if I was not the one that picked the call. I said no but my husband did. She shouted and cut the call. Ah! What is it that she couldn't tell me. I asked Benson what she said and in a low tone he said, " your step mother says your son went to school and was reported unconscious so he was rushed to the hospital. " I got shocked when he said my son. He said "Dzigbordi, which son was your step mother talking about? and why did your body vibrate like a quick phone flash when I said your son? " He said this in a very low tone. Benson's personality was one out of twenty. I said " Honey I can explain. " " Explain what?" He asked this time around with a strong voice. I got frightened because I never saw him shout before. My tears bag got activated and I started crying. He saw that I was frightened so he said sorry for raising his voice at me and hugged me. He said why don't we rather rush to Akatsi and see what was going on. He was a bit confused but he was able to control himself and prepared as we started the journey to Akatsi. We were silent in the car as if we were strangers to each other . He was not talking and I was also not talking. We got to a police stop and we saw how skillfully some police officer took money from a driver and put into his pocket. In fact you will also laugh when you see it. He smiled and asked me if I also saw It. That was what broke the silence. I bought a plantain chips and gave him some to take. The tension at least came down a bit. We got to the house and we were redirected to the Akatsi district hospital. Thanks to God my son gained consciousness upon our arrival. Alex saw me and said "ma" I went to him and told him that he will be fine. Benson was standing looking at us. I came to kneel in front of Benson to explain things to him. He just went back and left the Ward. Hmm. I just saw the end of my life. We left Enyonam and Alex at the hospital and went to my father's house. Benson told my father In his face that he was very disappointed in him. Ah! My step mother came in. " why wont he be disappointed in you. You and your daughter thought you could hide Alex forever." Benson just turned his back, entered into his car and away her left me behind and off to Ho. My daddy tried calling him but he didn't pick. My father walked towards my step mother and angrily, landed a heavy slap in her face. He said she was wicked because why should they all plan something only for her to destroy it. She shamefully went to her room. I went back to the hospital and took care of Alex. When I returned to the house, I tried Benson's number but he didn't respond. I called a coworker and told him I will be absent from work for two days because of some emergency. He said my husband was the right person to grant me permission and not him. I hanged up and became more confused. Two days later , I returned to Ho. I got home only to see that Benson's mother was back. But why was this woman back? I asked myself. I went to greet her and she said she was not ready for my greetings. She said I should tell her why I left the town for two days without even going to work and no permission either. I said "in-law please let me explain." I turned my back and here comes Benson's father. Oh my God!
